Not far from San Antonio is the “Cowboy Capital of the World” – Bandera and the Hill County State Park Natural Area. And since we are now all in possession of several cowboy hats and boots, it is, of course, obligatory for us to visit these places.
Hill County State Park Natural Area
First, we went to the state park, along various ranches where you can take guided horseback tours. That’s good to know and another item for our ToDo list. Some ranches even offer hunting tours (good for Matthias to know and a thing for his personal list).
The vastness and diversity of the landscape here are impressive, and one feels the peace and solitude particularly intensely because of the restrictive visitor numbers.
Bandera – Cowboy Capital of the World
Bandera calls itself the cowboy capital of the world. Well, this lovely little town is already quite cozy, but since, unfortunately, no events are allowed to take place, the charm is somewhat lost.
Medina Lake
On the way home, we wanted to pay a visit to Medina Lake (and possibly find something edible), but unfortunately, we were only granted a view outside the access. The officials had already closed all entrances to control the number of visitors. So we will make up for this trip at a later date.
