For this trip, we had chosen the best weather ever. The sun had been shining for weeks, and on this day, the temperatures reached well over 100 °F. It was the perfect weather to climb a red cairn with no shade option and then go for a city stroll (including a visit to a Christmas store) all sweaty.
Enchanted Rock
The massive granite dome that rises in this place has attracted people for thousands of years. The colors in this landscape are fantastic, and the way up is exhausting (especially with the temperatures…)
After a short breakfast stop in Llano, where we had eaten homemade German pretzels opposite a former ice rink station (except Matthias, because they were sweet and he is not into that), we went directly to the big red cairn.
Fredericksburg
This “typically German” settlement we had last visited shortly before Christmas 2019 and found it highly overflowed because of the masses of people. However, this time it was very relaxed, and we had time to look at some corners in peace.
Soon now is Christmas … (so in about half a year)
