After Celina successfully survived the summer vacations (yes, she even did something meaningful from time to time, e.g., American sign language and a summer art course), we thought that ending the vacations at the seaside would be a good idea. Of course, we chose Labor Day (07 September) for that, like thousands of other Americans … Well, not all ideas we have are always good!
In the evening, we went along the promenade toward Pleasure Pear. Does anyone still know Bubba Gump Shrimps? (Little hint: Run, Forrest, run…)
Walking tour of Old Galveston
In the old town of Galveston, there are many beautiful historic buildings. But unfortunately, many properties are unrenovated and empty, which prompted our architect to ask the residents why this was so. The explanations were as simple as they were obvious. There are rigorous requirements in this city on the part of the preservation of historical monuments for the renovation, and due to the permanent hurricane risk and fire (everything is just made of wood), the insurance sums are correspondingly high. But the buildings that have been renovated are really impressive.
Before heading home, the girls looked for dolphins while Matthias checked out the other offered activities.
