First of all, by way of explanation: In Germany, “having a bird” means being a bit crazy.
Just the realization that we have a bird (so we are a bit crazy) is certainly not new for many, and there is nothing we can do about it. But if you look at it very closely, we currently even have four birds. So we are very happy about that because we are very fond of animals and hopefully there will be more soon. Only unfortunately, it will be so only a limited time.
It’s spring in Texas, so it’s breeding season for the birds. And they are really busy building here. But where they are making is much cuter because we never thought one would take up residence on a lamp or in our flower box. But that’s how it is this spring. A pair of wrens are nesting in our flower box, and swallows have found a new home on the lamp.
The wren couple obviously feels comfortable, and in the evening, the artificial flowers are plucked as a screen in front of the entrance.
But now, it just so happened that our community management decided to clean the house facades extensively, and thus there was a danger for the breeding pairs. We were really worried about the nests and found a deal with the craftsmen that they show extreme care around the nests. In the meantime, we temporarily parked the balcony box on our balcony and put it away in its original place immediately after the cleaning was finished. Fortunately, the little birds have survived everything well and have moved back into their nests.
