We need old things for our latest photography project (we will report on this in detail elsewhere in due course). So a visit to the vintage market in Dripping Spring was a good idea, as it’s just around the corner and the name suggested that old objects could be bought. Celina still had projects to finish for her studies anyway and we old people didn’t want to spend the whole day sitting around in our apartment. So … let’s see what you get for the hefty entrance fee of $17 per person plus tax.
We already knew the event hall from the rodeo, but that didn’t change the fact that we drove past it first and only found the entrance on the second attempt. As the parking lot was already full, it was reasonable to assume that a lot of people hadn’t found their way to church or Walmart this Sunday, but rather here. And so it was. Not overcrowded, but well attended, this event proved to be a very pleasant “flea market” with attention to detail.
Contrary to our expectation that there would only be antique items and things to buy, the range on offer also surprised us with numerous homemade or tailor-made items, which added a very special charm to strolling around the stands. It was almost like being at a craft market.
This market will be held here again next year in April. Celina will have to make time for that because we will be going again.
Oh yes, we were of course very kind and took our hard-working little daughter a bag of fresh donuts. That’s just the way we are …
