Now, in the run-up to Christmas, a wide variety of Christmas-themed events are taking place to get visitors in the mood. This is also the case at Pioneer Farm here in Austin, which we have visited several times in the past. This time, the theme was the Victorian era.
The beautiful old buildings were decorated with decorations from around 1800, transporting visitors back in time. There was Christmas music, old crafts, and, of course, Santa Claus. Children could color nutcrackers and take them home with them. Unfortunately, there was no mulled wine… Too bad! But with temperatures close to 30 degrees Celsius, it probably wouldn’t have been a good idea anyway.
The longhorns on the farm, however, didn’t care much about any of this. They enjoyed the beautiful weather and calmly grazed on the grass in the pasture.
And so we kicked off the Christmas season in true Old Lone Star style.
