Andrea had just returned from her trip to Germany when (as in the previous year) the German Texan Heritage Society’s Oktoberfest was on the agenda. It was fortunate that we had purchased a pavilion and otherwise had little time to prepare. That’s just how we are…
Okay, this year we had bought props and equipment and built a photo booth, stuffed everything into the car early in the morning, and set it up at the new location on the Society’s grounds so that we would be ready in time for the opening this time. Of course, we girls had also dug out our fancy dirndls again to match the event.
The weather was good, there were plenty of customers, and we were busy all day long. Of course, there were also opportunities to meet friends, because most Germans here don’t want to miss the Austin Oktoberfest. It’s a place to see and be seen.
As expected, there were bratwurst with sauerkraut, pretzels, various German beers and wine, and the German car dealers Porsche, VW, and BMW were also represented.
Cool event, beautiful location, and a great day… We’ll be back again next year!
