Kuehne Art proudely presents:
The unique final for the filmmaking class at Saint Edwards University in the spring semester 2025…
directed by the one and only Celina-Marie Kuehne:
The music video “Big Bad Wolf”!
A music video based on the fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood, told from the perspective of the wolf who discovers the dark secret of the “girl in the middle of the forest.”
This spring semester, Celina had taken a film production class where she learned the basics, origins, and intricacies of film-making. This fits in quite well with her focus on photography and should present a decent challenge in terms of her final thesis. While her fellow students were working on films that told more or less elaborate stories, Celina was determined to shoot a music video. So far, so good… at least we didn’t have to compose and sing a song as well…
The song had already been decided on in February, as had the deadline at the end of April, but she didn’t have any real ideas for how to implement it. From the beginning of March, we annoying parents gradually started to push her to start the project, because we could already imagine that it would be quite time-consuming. And for all of us, the film business is completely new territory. At the end of March, after numerous discussions, we had a rough concept and were able to start filming. The following weekends were then reserved for filming, as long as Celina didn’t have to work.
After shooting the first outdoor scenes, we wanted to focus on the studio scenes. Unfortunately, all the rental slots at the Saint Edwards University film studio had been booked by other students, and there was no more availability. So we converted our living room once again and created our own studio set (which started with some discussion, but ended up with some nonsense, as usual).
But now there was another special challenge… Where could we get a wolf? In the surrounding zoos, there are always bars in front of the lens, and the wolves there don’t exactly “follow the script.”
Attempts to dress ourselves up as wolves or make something with toy wolves were only moderately successful.
We had once seen how old photos are animated on our family tree website. That was an approach to browsing through our photo collection, and soon we also found older photos of wolves from a wildlife park enclosure in Germany. We quickly found an online animation program, and after a few attempts, we had a “self-created” usable moving wolf (even if the quality isn’t necessarily the best)! Great, AI can be pretty cool after all.
At least all the footage was in the can by April 27, and Celina was able to edit the final work on schedule. The screening in the cinema hall at Saint Edwards University took place on May 2 with all her fellow film students in attendance, and the grade she received proved that the professor was obviously very satisfied with the result.
Here is the result of our family film project: “Big Bad Wolf” (remake by kuehne-art)
